DDGs Eden
James Savory Cricket Development Officer for Eden.
My Role
At present most of my time is spent coaching in the Primary and Seconday Schools within Eden, this is made possible by the backing of Chance to Shine, The Eden School Sports Partnership and Eden District Council.
The Chance to Shine coaching takes runs from January to July and is concentrated in the five Secondary Schools in Eden as well as 6 Primary Schools, specifically selected for being in close proximity to local cricket clubs that run junior sections, the aim of the scheme is create a cricketing culture within these schools and build sustainable club-school partnerships.
The Eden School Sports Partnership coaching scheme also runs from January to July and has two main aims.
The first aim is to develop girls cricket by delivering girls cricket coaching sessions at the 5 Secondary Schools, and in conjuction with the Eden District Development Group create opportunities for girls to play cricket outside of school by setting up Upper and Lower Eden girls coaching sessions and teams based at Appleby and Penrith Cricket Clubs.
The second aim is to give every Primary School in Eden the opportunity to receive 4 hours of quality cricket coaching as well as the opportunity to take part in their local Kwik Cricket festival.
This year the CCB is working even more closely with Eden District Council, working in partnership to run cricket camps during the school summer holidays, the emphasis of these will be on fun by playing lots of games and hopefully learning some new skills along the way.
Also during the summer months I will be coaching the Eden District U-12 and U-14 teams as well as the County Girls U-15 team.
During the winter months I organise and run open coaching courses at U-13 and U-15 age groups as well as organising and running winter coaching for the district squads.
