Women's & Girls' Cricket
Developing Women's and Girls' Cricket within the county is one of the Board's main priorities. We run county teams at u13, u15, u17 and senior level with many promising players within the set up.
Steve Benson, one of our local Volunteers, took over the role of head of women's and girls' cricket 18 months ago with the aim of enhancing the program and establishing a girls club set up from which to build a county wide structure.
Funding from Chance to Shine has allowed for 4 school/club projects in the Barrow, Carlisle, South Lakes and North Copeland areas to add to teams already being formed in Keswick and North & South Eden.
Open courses run at Keswick and Chetwynde School's showed that there is a high level of interest in the game, with a number of new players being found for the county u13 and u15 sides these courses will now be replicated around the county this winter. We also run a very strong girls kwik cricket program culminating in festivals which feed into regional and national finals The county age group squads are going from strength to strength with promising numbers at the lower end and records being broken throughout. Details can be found on the relevant tabs above.

Any clubs interested in establishing a girls section or anyone requiring more information can contact Steve.
