With many players away at university and having other commitments the next couple of seasons look set to be years of rebuilding and development. With the oldest player in the side just 24 we are hoping to put together a side capeable of progressing through the league system; as the strength at the lower end of our age group system moves up to strengthen the senior squad and support the talented players we already have in the team. One of the main challenges for the team is the lack of a full women's club system and thus the limited amount of competitive cricket; attempts to launch teams at Penrith and Furness have so far had limited response but anyone interested in getting involved can contact us. In 2011 we will receive only 5 ECB fixtures home and away against Northumberland and Shropshire as well as playing Ireland at home. Thankfully we have secured fixtures against Scotland as well as division 2 side Cheshire which should be a great opportunity to judge how far we need to progress. We will also compete in the ECB T20 competition, this year our group will be held at Stocksfield in Northumberland thankfully a lot nearer to home than last season's "regional" venue in Birmingham!
